In response to existing Community Challenges in South Ethiopia Region particularly in Wolaita Zone, Habitat Kalehiwot Church, together with community members, initiated the Habitat Holistic Development Association (HHDA) in 2020 to curve the problems. HHDA builds grassroots engagement, including support for orphaned and vulnerable children, mobilization of women’s associations for small-scale income generation, cultural group training, and volunteer-driven outreach programs. These initiatives have already demonstrated the power of community-driven and faith-based action in reducing poverty, promoting inclusion, and strengthening resilience.

HHDA now seeks to consolidate these efforts into an integrated development model that combines vocational training, entrepreneurship support, psychosocial counseling, and spiritual guidance. While rooted in the church’s vision and values, HHDA functions under professional and independent management to ensure inclusivity, transparency, and accountability. Importantly, its services are designed for all community members regardless of faith affiliation ensuring wide-reaching social impact.
